ІКОНОГРАФІЧНІ ДЖЕРЕЛА ДО ВИВЧЕННЯ МУЗИКИ БАРОКО НА ТЕРЕНАХ ІВАНО-ФРАНКІВЩИНИ

Abstract

Baroque culture as onset of a dynamic epoch is known for all-embracing increase in tone, aspiration towards intensive emotional action. Artists did not recognize sedate aesthetic contemplation, instead, their goal was to capture and impress listener or viewer, to cause emotional commotion by in uencing the mind through emotions and conqering consciousness through a similar method. In the synthesis of all arts the important role of music was undisputable. New and previously unknown historical sources and iconographic plots that reveal key music themes in the systems of Catholic cathedral’s,Orthodox church’s and Jewish synagogue’s liturgies are analyzed in the article. Common XVIII century plots that used images of choir members and musical instruments as integral parts are studied in the article. Analytical, iconographic and iconological methods are employed in the study. Presented facts corroborate the existence of professional instrumental music and choral singing in the region.
