Abstract:	The article deals with the personal and social problems which could be observed in the times of the Soviet Union. The main character of the novelette «My Saturday» Porubai is considered as a product of the technocratic epoch, a result of the endless progress. The paper also shows how the maneuvering on the verge of inner/outer, personal/social becomes a common feature of the fiction in the 1960s.
